Minutes of Committee Meeting held at Lordswood Leisure Centre on Wednesday, 2^nd January 2008 at 7.30 p.m..

 

1.   COMMITTEE:-

PRESENT:  Vic Williams (chairman), Vic Smith, Andy Bonneywell, Jim Carey, Sue Sandmann, Mark Sandmann, Claire Blake, Ray Swatton, Ray Kerr, David Durham, Ian Ballard, Graham Adsett, Sarah Monk, Chris Carey

Also in attendance from K.C.F.A. Division 2  Committee

Mr Keith McCourt, Mr Mick Davies, Mr Ken Keating, Mr Steve Breeds and Mr Gavin Hoare.  Apologies received from Mr Colin Boswell.

ABSENT:  none

Prior to the committee meeting and League business an informal question and answer session took place by way of a Liaison meeting with the K.C.F.A. D2 representatives. The following topics were raised:  Issues arising from the new arrangements for training referees; standard of referees reports; mentor arrangements for trainee referees; CRB and Welfare Officers; publication of player misconduct records, communications with K.C.F.A. and F.A..

Concern was expressed at the level of spectator misconduct with the County reps advising on possible sanctions.

The representatives, except for Mr McCourt, left the meeting at 8.30 p.m..

 

2.   MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING  (on 5^th December 2007):

were agreed to be a true and accurate record and were signed by the chairman.

There were no matters arising from the previous minutes.

K.C.F.A. Ltd.   League and Club Welfare Officers.  It will be mandatory for all clubs and Leagues to have a Welfare Officer in place by the start of 2008/09 season. Clubs will be unable to affiliate unless they have a trained Welfare Officer and are therefore advised to deal with this as a matter of urgency if you have not already done so.  You should have received full details by separate mailing.

K.C.F.A. Ltd.   Online Chat   This circular has been received by secretaries direct from the K.C.F.A.. The KCFA is concerned with the misuse of club and internet sites. Foul, abusive and aggressive messages have been found on some sites.  Clubs are reminded of the provisions of the KCFA Rule 8 (Page 50 of the current KCFA handbook) regarding websites.  The KCFA will monitor sites and ‘ the severest action will be taken against participants who breach rule 8 and in so doing act in a manner considered to be improper and not in the best interests of the game’.

If any member club is charged by the KCFA in this regard and subsequently found guilty, the MNYL will issue further charges of bringing the MNYL into disrepute.

Cuxton 91 U/14 manager wishes to thank Rainham Eagles U/14 management for their help with an injured player after the match on 16/12/07.  Luckily hospital checks showed the player’s ankle was not broken.

 

4.   CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

I would like to wish everybody a Happy New Year, can it be a trouble free year please. The level of touch line abuse towards match officials and opposition is getting out of all proportion. If you have read the K.C.F.A blue print for Kent football you will see they will name and shame clubs whose parents misbehave, we as a League will play our part we will take away a players registration to play in this League if the players and parents do not behave.

6.   SECRETARY’S REPORT

Happy New Year everyone.

We are awaiting F.A. guidance and clarification on the arrangements for 2008/09 season with regard to Child Protection.  I have sent you what information I have received and again advise you to act sooner rather than later with regard to ensuring your CRB checks are carried out.  We are also expecting some changes regarding spectator control that have received some media coverage but the detail is still awaited.  This topic could be on your club agenda for discussion as it seems to now be  a weekly problem and the MNYL will take further action against offenders.

Thank you to everyone who sent Jim and I Christmas messages and cards and particular thanks to Rob and Omega 92 for the lovely goodies he brought us on Christmas Eve.

7.   AGE GROUP SECRETARIES

All age groups: Please note that transfers will only be processed if they have been completed by the two club secretaries involved.   Transfers are allowed until 1^st February.

Rearranged fixtures will be sent out for teams no longer in cups and therefore do not assume you have a free week unless specifically advised by your age group secretary.

I would like to thanks all the teams that sent through Christmas cards and seasonal greetings to me. Hope you all had a good time over the break and all my best wishes for the New Year.

Good Luck to all the teams still left in the cup in all my age groups. Fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us these next few weeks.

Don’t forget there are cut off points for registrations, transfers and deregistrations as well as rules over new players playing in the cup – all the information is in your handbook.

Please note that, with immediate effect, all my outgoing e-mails will come from my hotmail account.
This is due to problems receiving e-mails on my old computer. All my other e-mail addresses have been linked to the hotmail account so any correspondence sent to them should be picked up OK.

10.   RESULTS SECRETARY/WEBMASTER’S REPORT 

A reminder to clubs that ‘player wanted’ adverts for the web site must be endorsed by your Club secretary.

11.   CUP COMMITTEE

The semi finals cup draw will take place on 6^th February 2008. Any club with a team in the semi finals is welcome to attend (2 persons maximum per club) but please ring Andy Bonneywell 01634 306229 or e-mail him andy.bonneywell@blueyonder.co.uk beforehand for the arrangements and to confirm attendance.

As discussed at the AGM there will be a meeting for all cup finalists.  It will be mandatory for the club secretary to attend together with the manager of each team in a cup final.  This meeting will take place at 7.00 p.m. on 5^th March 2008 at Lordswood Leisure Centre so secretaries please put this in your diaries just in case!
