Minutes of Committee Meeting held at Lordswood Leisure Centre on Wednesday, 5^th March 2008 at 8.00 p.m..

 

1.   COMMITTEE:-

PRESENT:  Vic Williams (chairman), Vic Smith, Andy Bonneywell, Sarah Monk, Sue Sandmann, Graham Adsett, Michele Leadsham, Jim Carey, Chris Carey, Ian Ballard and Keith McCourt (K.C.F.A. rep).

2.   MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING   (on 6^th February 2008)

These were agreed to be a true and accurate report except the transfers listed for Joe and Chris Spedding were from U/13s Rainham Kenilworth to Spartac and not vice versa.  Also fixture noted in vice-chairman’s report should read U/9 Lordswood Youth v Rainham Eagles.

There were no matters arising from the previous minutes.

Cobham Colts   note of thanks to MNYL committee for gift to player, Aiden Lewis U/15s following his recent injury.  Also thanking Cliffe Woods Colts for use of pitch for the U/15 semi final on 24/2/08

Deanview 95  updating MNYL on a recent incident referred to the K.C.F.A.. Deanview 95 send thanks to David Slaughter (emergency referee) for his prompt intervention.

Correspondence contd.:

 

Medway Council  Advising the League that they will be investing in a thorough renovation programme of pitches , based upon condition and needs of each individual pitch.  This programme will commence as soon as fixtures are complete but no later than 12/5/08. 

 

Rainham Kenilworth

The club secretary writes  “ Myself and all the players of Rainham Kenilworth Rovers U/13s would like to thank the players, supporters and management of Cuxton 91 for their impeccable respect for the two minutes silence in memory of Hayden Waller, the boy who tragically died on the Howard School trip and some of our team were his class mates.”

 

Woodpecker   letter re additional team for 2008/09 season (U/12s).  You will be asked to attend an interview – details will be sent to you by e-mail.

 

4.   CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

My report for this month is regarding items that I have reported over the
last six months. Secretaries are still not passing on information to their
membership regarding the League monthly minutes and also some Secretaries
are not reading the minutes themselves, we know of two clubs that this has
affected this month.
White lines around the football pitch - this is called the touchline these
are put there for the benefit of the players they are not for spectators or
managers to stand inside the white lines to watch the game.
Abuse to referees especially the young referees has got to stop if you
continue to do this I will recommend to the AGM that the offending persons
or teams are asked to leave the Medway News Youth League as this is now
getting out of hand.

5.   VICE – CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

6.   SECRETARY’S REPORT

I have now been in touch with Stephanie Gadd, K.C.F.A. Club Development Officer and Vic and I will be meeting with her next week to discuss actions required to progress our commitment to becoming a Charter Standard League.  Stephanie confirms 16 member clubs have F.A Development or Charter Standard status already with a number also working towards the status at the present time.  Please contact Stephanie at the K.C.F.A. office if you need any information or help with an application for your club.  01634 812032 stephanie.gadd@kentfa.com

I have sent all club secretaries the voting form for the annual divisional Sportsman awards.  This must be returned before 1^st April, by e-mail, one form only per club, to Ian Ballard, mnyl.treasurer@btinternet.com .  Please let me know if you have not received the voting form.

 

7.   AGE GROUP SECRETARIES

All age groups:   Rearranged fixtures have been issued to club secretaries.

Please make sure these are passed to all relevant persons including managers, fixture secretaries and your club results secretary.

Congratulations to all the teams who made it through to the cup finals I look forward to meeting you and your teams on that special day. Commiserations to all those not so lucky – who knows may be it will be your turn next year.

It’s nice to have a month with not so many fines it’s a shame that it’s taken to nearly  the end of the season for people to achieve this.

Under 8, U/9, U/10 & U/15 Fixture Secretary

All teams should by now know their final fixtures or still have several weeks of games as per fixture book.  I am also covering the U/13 fixtures at the moment in case of any queries.

 

Under 11 Secretary

A couple of surprises in the semis and we look forward to 2 interesting U/11 cup finals. Well done to all managers as I have hardly had to give a fine this month.

 

Under 12 Secretary

Transfer Jake Pearce  from Rainham Kenilworth to Rainham 84  omitted last month but completed within deadline. 

 

Under 13 Secretary

Well done to the teams in my age group for making the finals.  I’m looking forward to seeing the teams in action at the Garrison.

I know it is late in the season and not long before the registration deadline but I am still getting a few and it is not always convenient to stop and deal with these at my front door.  Please enclose an s.a.e. as required.

 

Under 14 Secretary

I would like to start by saying well done to Spartac, Thamesview Rangers, Bredhurst Jnrs and Sheerness East for reaching the final of the cups and bad luck to the losers-  maybe next year. All rearranged fixtures have been sorted and e-mailed out thanks to Christine, there were quite a few to do and hopefully I have not missed any. I would like to thank Sheerness East for their nice letter regarding their semi final against Rainham Eagles it made a nice change to receive such a pleasant letter – congratulations Rainham Eagles on such a sporting game and well done the referee.

Under 16 Secretary

I am not available from 6/3/08 – 21/3/08 and Andy Bonneywell will deal with any registrations or problems during this period.  All results cards should be sent to me as usual.

Congratulations to the finalists of the cups. I wish them all good luck and hope your day is an enjoyable one.

Rearranged fixtures have been sent out up to 22^nd March. Remaining fixtures will follow; however as the season finishes end of April and some teams will still have games to play I will be asking those teams to play midweek or Saturday. Any fixtures not completed by end of April will be made void 

 

Under 18 Secretary

Wigmore Youth – letter advising expenses were not shared for cup semi final officials. Rule 24n applies.  £22 will be charged to New Ash Green  MNYL statement and credited to Wigmore Youth.

10.  RESULTS SECRETARY/WEBMASTER’S REPORT

Once again can I ask you to double check your results emails for accuracy before sending on a  Sunday.  Several this month have had the wrong away team listed or the score reversed.

Some results secretaries are not aware of rearranged fixtures, there have been several sent out in the last few weeks with more to come.

I would like to remind everyone that the deadline is 6 p.m. on a Sunday to report your results.

A big thank you to all those secretaries who get their results in before 4pm it is much appreciated.

 

11. CUP COMMITTEE

Please note the U/11 League Cup will now be played on 20^th April 2008.  Thank you to Omega 92 for their co-operation.

The cup meeting for clubs held prior to this meeting had 100% attendance.  All clubs were briefed on the arrangements at the Garrison ground on the day of a final.  Please remember to return your club information form to Andy Bonneywell within 14 days.  Tickets were issued.  Sarah will send out a pro-forma for cup final programme write ups.  You need do nothing until you receive this from her but return it to her within 14 days. No reminders will be sent for this information.

14.      K.C.F.A. REPRESENTATIVE’S REPORT

Following the recent meeting between the league and the KCFA below are the answers to some of the points the league raised.

1)      Mentoring – Geoff Stanborough is the mentor co-ordinator and has said that he is actively working on the mentor system.

2)      Welfare Officer / CRB checks – reported in the media that as from 2008/9 season All clubs must have a Welfare officer and be CRB checked. This has been confirmed verbally but no further information available as to how and who will police it.

3)      It has been confirmed that unless a club is registered as a “youth” club it will not receive communications aimed at youth football.

The county would like to thank the MNYL for being proactive in its handling of parent/spectator misconduct.

On a more cautionary note I would also like to say that at a recent meeting of the KCFA a point of concern was raised that there were some recent cases where referee’s may have been appointed to games that they may not have been suitable for. Care needs to be taken on the appointment of young and recently qualified referee’s as they are the future of your league.
